Exercises:
1. Learn about wikis and discover some innovative ways that libraries are using them.
2. Investigate DBRL's staff wikis & add an entry to "Staff Favorites."
3. Explore Web-based applications & take Google Docs for a test drive.
By the end of this unit, you will have:
- created an entry on the "Staff Favorites" wiki,
- explored the features of Google Docs,
- and learned about the versatility of wikis and Web-based apps.
Library applications:
These tools allow you to create a collaborative workspace to share projects with co-workers. All project information and documents can be stored in a central location for universal access. Consider using these tools the next time you are assigned to a team project.
In addition, you may direct patrons to use Google Docs the next time they need to save a document and do not have a disc or flash drive with them. Google Docs is also a helpful tool to use when you need to back-up documents.
