Library Applications:
Social networking is the most popular usage of Web 2.0 technologies. Most often, patrons use these programs to keep in touch with friends and family. It is important to understand the basic functionality of these tools so that you can provide better technical support and customer service. In addition, these sites are frequently used by libraries to provide personalized promotion of programs and collections.
Optional Exploration:
If you have extra time, or if you already have a Facebook account, explore Twitter.com, MySpace.com, Imbee.com, or a genealogical social networking site such as MyHeritage.com or Amiglia.com. (You DO NOT have to create a personal account; you can just take a tour of what features these sites have to offer.)
